CAIRO – 21 November 2017: Major General Esmat al-Ashqar, head of the General Directorate of Traffic, ordered all departments to be on high alert and to put forward preparations to prevent traffic accidents due to unstable weather conditions on Tuesday.

The statement was issued after rain drenched highways, such as the Agricultural Road, El Alamein Desert Road, Alexandria Desert Road, Suez Highway and some areas of the Ring Road and the North Coast Road.

Temperatures today reach 21 degrees Celsius and it was mostly cloudy this morning.

The Traffic Department follows the instructions of Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar, including turning on car headlights and slowing driving speeds to prevent accidents.

Alexandria Port Authority decided to close traffic to Bogazi Port in Alexandria and El-Dekheila due to bad weather conditions and increasing wind speeds of up to 25 knots per hour and wave heights as high as three meters.
