CAIRO – 19 November 2017: Several topics of mutual interest were discussed between President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and his French Counterpart Emmanuel Macron during a phone call, late Saturday evening.

In a statement issued by the Élysée Palace, both leaders spoke about conditions in the Middle East, brainstorming ways to stabilize and restore peace in the region.

Macron also called other leaders, including American President Donald Trump, Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres to discuss similar issues.

The statement added that further discussions will be held during the coming days.

Resigned Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri visited France on Saturday and met with Macron several days after announcing his resignation during a short video broadcasted from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During the visit, Hariri declared that he will be returning to Beirut on Wednesday.

Last October, Sisi arrived in Paris for a three-day visit, as he conducted a press conference with Macron and discussed relations between the two countries.
