CAIRO – 16 November 2017: The Egyptian presidency has approved the General Egyptian Flight Attendant Union’s (GEFAU) request to turn the union into a syndicate.

In a statement on Thursday, the head of GEFAU, Osama Abdel Halem, said that he had received a phone call from the Egyptian presidency informing him that parliament’s labor force committee will discuss this month the bill presented by the union to regulate the establishment of the new syndicate.

He added that the Egyptian Parliament’s legislative and constitutional affairs committee has completed its review of the bill and submitted it to the labor force committee.

Abdel Halem expressed his gratitude to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi for approving the union’s demand, applauding the presidency’s efforts to meet the needs of the Egyptian people.

In October, GEFAU signed a cooperation agreement with Neuro Med Clinics, Cairo’s premier medical center specializing in Neurology and Sleep Medicine, to provide advanced neurology services to flight attendants to ensure a better work environment and worker safety.
