CAIRO – 16 November 2017: Saudi Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday, that it would officially employ women for the first time in the ministry’s history, according to Saudi media.

Women would be allowed to work in the ministry as social, religious, legal researchers and administrative assistants. Registration will begin on November 26 and end on November 30.

Saudi Justice Minister Waleed Bin Mohammed al-Samaan said that the ministry was keen to hire Saudi women for their remarkable role in serving women in judicial and documentation fields.

Samaan also pointed to the positive successes that Saudi women have achieved in various fields.

In May 2017, Saudi Okaz newspaper announced that the number of Saudi women diplomats working in the foreign ministry has reached 113; a 29-percent increase from 2015.

Saudi Arabia has recently taken pro-women decisions, including allowing women to attend sporting events in three selected stadiums which are due to begin next year; in addition to allowing Saudi women to drive for the first time in the country’s history.

The decisions come under the framework of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the reforms led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
