CAIRO – 15 November 2017: Cairo International Airport conducted an airfield fire-fighting exercise rehearsal to ensure the airport’s highest level of preparedness in dealing with the emergence of any possible fire.

The exercise involved the testing of an emergency landing of a Boeing B737-800 with 90 passengers and 10 crew members on board. The airport’s emergency plans regarding fire suspension and the strategies to address the implications in case of fire emergencies were exercised.

The rehearsals come within the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) instructions to conduct a two-year emergency test to measure individuals' preparedness and participation in the experiment, and to develop their skills, identifying the positives and negatives of the experiment to obtain clear information on what to avoid in future trials.
