CAIRO - 13 November 2017: The Education and Scientific Research Committee at the House of Representatives approved on Monday a bill submitted by the government to establish an Egyptian space agency, in preparation for presenting the bill to the parliament's general session.

The committee approved the bill during the meeting it held in the presence of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, with the participation of other involved committees.

Head of the Education and Scientific Research Committee Gamal Shiha urged the government to offer all the needed support to set up the Egyptian space agency so as to enable Egypt to be a leading country in such field.

For his side, Abdel Ghaffar said that establishing the space agency is one of the main requirements of national security and will play a significant role in the exploration and scientific activities.

Such agency is expected also to help in facing problems including monitoring encroachment cases on lands, Abdel Ghaffar added.
