CAIRO – 12 November 2017: Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) Makram Mohammed Ahmed denounced media outlets hosting persons who harm Islam by giving odd Fatwa, Islamic legal pronouncements, a SCMR statement said on Sunday.

During a meeting with Grand Imma of Al-Azhar Shiekh Ahmed el-Tayyeb on Sunday, SCMR chairman emphasized that Al-Azhar institution is responsible for religious issues as it is a reliable Islamic reference not only in Egypt, but also for the whole Islamic world.

The SCMR’s chairman hailed the visit embarked by Shiekh Ahmed el-Tayyieb to the Vatican, noting that expanding cooperation to the World major religious establishments showing that Islam is a religion of peace and coexistence.

For his part, the Grand Imam expressed his appreciation toward efforts exerted by the SCMR to advance media in Egypt, which has great social responsibility to spread culture and awareness and to maintain values and ethics of the society.
