CAIRO – 12 November 2017: Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev arrived Sunday in the Philippine capital of Manila; to attend the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to Sputnik news agency.

Medvedev's visit will last for three days and he is expected to attend the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the first meeting of APEC leaders in Vietnam, where he met his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump and agreed to continue working together with him on fighting the Islamic State terrorist group until they are completely eradicated.

The ASEAN summit is a semiannual meeting held to discuss the economic and cultural development of the Southeast Asian countries.

The ASEAN league currently connects countries that aim to participate in the missions and visions of the league.

This year, the ASEAN summit added three countries to its members such as China, Japan and South Korea.
