CAIRO – 12 November 2017: Egyptian deputies abroad are organizing conferences in Arab and foreign countries in the coming period to promote the public campaign “To Build It;” demanding that Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi runs for a second term.

Deputy of Foreign Affairs Committee in the parliament, Ghada Ajami, said that the campaign is extending in Italy, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia and other world countries to introduce Egyptians abroad to the achievements of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi in different fields since he came to power.

Presidential elections are approaching, as they are set to be held in May. However, no single potential candidate announced s/he would run for office.

Amid that ambiguity, a number of parliamentarians and politicians launched a campaign titled “To Build It;” demanding the re-election of Sisi.

The main reasons behind supporting Sisi for another term boil down to the continuation of the mega projects, development of the country’s infrastructure, preservation of the national security, enhancement of education systems and counterterrorism.

The campaign succeeded in collecting a large amount of signatures from public figures, politicians and parliamentarians, who constitute a big portion of the campaign members; totaling up to hundreds.

Some parliamentarians have started to contact Egyptian expat groups who already knew about the campaign from the Facebook page, so that they would print out a pro-Sisi petition.

Sisi is the sixth president of Egypt. He assumed office in June 2014 after the June 30 revolution, which toppled former President Mohamed Morsi who is affiliated with the now-banned Muslim Brotherhood.
