CAIRO - 8 November 2017: The parliament's first undersecretary, Mahmoud el Sherif, has discussed in a meeting with Wang Xiaofeng, the deputy secretary general of the working committee affiliated with the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), ways of boosting bilateral ties in the cultural, political and economic fields.

In a statement released by the House of Representatives on Tuesday, el Sherif reviewed with Xiaofeng the latest political developments in Egypt, notably the real and effective democratic practice that Egypt witnessed within the past few years.

Also, the Parliament’s first undersecretary hailed China's support of Egypt in several mega projects being implemented, such as the new administrative capital, the industrial zone in Ain Sokhna area and the Suez Canal development corridor, the statement added.

Furthermore, the two parties agreed to exchange mutual experience at the parliament and political levels, the statement read.

El Sherif has touched on a number of key issues, especially Egypt’s fight against terrorism on behalf of world countries, the statement noted.

China does not seek global hegemony, rather endeavors to foster cooperation with neighboring states to achieve mutual benefit and common interests, the statement said.

China sees Cairo as an important partner to bolster cooperation and strengthen mutual coordination at international forums, Xiaofeng asserted, commending the efforts exerted by Egypt’s leadership to maintain the country’s stability and bring about development for the Egyptian people, according to the statement.
