40 British delegates submit a request to resume British flights to Egypt

CAIRO – 7 November 2017: Around 40 British delegates have submitted a request to the British government to lift the British travel ban to Egypt, Egypt's Ambassador to Britain Nasser Kamel said in a press statement on the sidelines of the World Travel Market (WTM).

An Egyptian delegation headed by Hisham al-Demiri, head of the Tourism Promotion Authority, participated in the WTM in London from November 6 to 8.

Kamel added that a request was made by the Egyptian parliament to end the travel ban soon.

Kamel pointed out that Egyptian airports have been developed to resume flights to Sharm El-Sheikh and British officials who have recently visited Egypt have confirmed the level security at all airports and Egyptian ports in general, especially the Sharm El-Sheikh airport.

Kamel also confirmed that they do not know when the British government will resume flights to Egypt.

Downing Street imposed a blanket ban on all British flights to Sharm after a Russian charter jet crashed in the Sinai Desert, killing all 224 lives on board in November 2015.
