CAIRO – 7 November 2017: The opening session of the Model United Nations (MUN) simulating the Security Council was held on Tuesday on the third day of the World Youth Forum (WYF) in Sharm El-Sheikh. The session, which was on terror, is attended by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

Each of the participants are representing different countries. A part of the simulation delivered an opening speech before voting on one of the three topics proposed for discussion. Three sessions will take place on Wednesday for discussions and drafting a resolution. On Thursday, the delegates will hold the vote and receive certificates for their participation.

Half of the participants, summing up to 77, are foreigners discussing threats to global peace and security, illegal migration, and cybercrime.

The countries represented in MUN at the World Youth Forum are Egypt, France, Senegal, the United Kingdom, Ethiopia, China, Uruguay, Japan, Bolivia, Germany, Sweden, Saudi Arabia, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Uganda, United States, and Russia.
