CAIRO - 5 November 2017: Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati opened on Sunday the 57th session of the Egyptian-Sudanese permanent technical panel on Nile River.

The five-day meeting falls within the framework of the panel's periodic meetings.

The meeting focuses on projects on reducing loss of water and fostering technical cooperation among riparian countries.

Abdel Ati underlined the importance of giving the panel more time to forge its final strategy for the coming 10 years.

He noted that the Egyptian and Sudanese leaderships under Presidents Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Omar Bashir are ready for pushing forward the joint development process.

The two states seek to realize self sufficiency in the agricultural and livestock domains, he said.
