BAGHDAD – 3 November 2017: Iraqi security forces, backed by tribesmen and Popular Mobilization Units, have fully liberated al Qaim city in western Anbar from Daesh militants, military sources announced on Friday.

Also, the Iraqi troops have raised the Iraqi flag over a number of government buildings in the center of al Qaim city, the sources added.

Some Iraqi military units have stepped up security measures to prevent fleeing Daesh terrorists from returning to the city, the sources noted.

Iraqi security forces and tribesmen launched a military operation in October to retake control of the city from the terrorist group.
