WASHINGTON - 2 November 2017: US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will make his first trip to Myanmar this month to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Rakhine State, the State Department said Thursday.

"Secretary of State Tillerson travels to the capital Naypyitaw Nov. 15 to consult with senior leaders and officials after he accompanies US President Donald Trump on his five-nation trip to Asia that starts this weekend," it said in a statement quoted by ABC news.

More than 600,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled to Bangladesh following a security crackdown in Rakhine, drawing allegations of ethnic cleansing and overshadowing Myanmar's US-backed transition to democracy.
