CAIRO – 1 November 2017: Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, congratulated Egypt and its people on the retaliatory attack carried out on the Wahat terrorists on Wednesday, during his opening speech at the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).

“We share the happiness of revenge with the Wahat martyrs and our brothers in Egypt,” Qasimi said; adding that Egypt has always been a bulwark of Arabs throughout history.

“Egypt has sincere people who love and protect it against extremist and dark forces,” Qasimi confirmed; pointing out that the UAE wishes Egypt all the progress and prosperity it deserves.

In the same context, Mohamed Saber Arab, Egypt’s former minister of culture, who was chosen as “Cultural Personality of the Year” dedicated his award to the souls of the Wahat martyrs.

He was chosen for the title due to his esteemed contributions to Arabic literature and cultural scene, as well as his great help in developing the cultural scene in Egypt and enhancing the country’s relationship with various cultural institutions. Arab has called for the preservation and upholding of the Arabic culture, especially in light of the modern challenges.

Following the battle between Egyptian forces and militants on October 20, new clashes erupted between the two sides on October 27. Fifteen militants were killed during the clashes, which took place along the Wadi Gadid-Wahat Road.

Egypt’s Interior Ministry followed the terrorists involved in the October 20 attack, aiming to eliminate them.
