CAIRO - 28 October 2017: Head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi appointed Mohamed Farid Hegazy as the Chief of Military Staff to be a successor to Mahmoud Hegazi, on Saturday, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense.

Mohamed Farid Hegazy was also promoted as a lieutenant-general, after he occupied the position of Minister of Defense Aide and the former Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense, the statement added.

President Sisi also appointed outgoing Mahmoud Hegazi in the position of the Presidential advisor for Strategic Planning and Crisis Management, the statement added.
