CAIRO – 23 October 2017: Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Ihab Nasr discussed on Monday with Undersecretary of the Italian Foreign Ministry Vincenzo Amendola Egyptian-Italian political, economic and trade relations.

Following their meeting, the senior Egyptian diplomat said they also tackled means of cooperation after the two countries’ ambassadors returned to resume their work as well as ways to solve the outstanding issues.

The Italian official offered condolences over the victims of a recent terrorist operation in the western desert in Egypt, and stressed his country’s support for Cairo in the fight against terrorism, Nasr said.

They also took up the projects of cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, infrastructure and culture.

They tackled the regional issues of common concern, topped by the crises in Syria and Libya, the illegal immigration file and the Mideast peace process.

The Italian official lauded the Egyptian role in achieving inter-Palestinian reconciliation.

The boosting of relations between Egypt and the European Union during the coming period was also probed.
