CAIRO – 21 October 2017: Security forces in the Ministry of Interior established control over the kilo 135 area, which witnessed clashes with militants in Wahat in the Western Desert in the early hours of Saturday.
The militants took kilo 135area as a shelter for their training, hiding and preparing for terrorist attacks, exploiting its difficult geographical nature to perform attacks.

The Interior Ministry released in a statement that the Interior Ministry’s National Security Service received information about the location of dangerous militants taking shelter in the Western Desert’s kilo 135, and then a raid was ordered to be launched.

The Interior Minister confirmed that the security forces are now combing the area and chasing the remaining attackers, indicating that 17 security officers were killed and 13 were injured.
The Interior Ministry added that the clashes lasted for hours, which led to the killing of 15 militants.
