CAIRO – 21 October 2017: Two eagles were released by Wadi El Rayan Protectorate on Friday, in collaboration with the Youth Loves Egypt (YLE) Foundation, after being illegally captured.

The two eagles were captured by some rare-bird hunters from the protectorate in violation to the Environment Law. The hunters fled the scene after retrieving the birds.

Wadi El Rayan is a unique nature protectorate in Faiyum governorate; it runs under the supervision of the Environmental Affairs Agency.

A cooperation protocol signed between the Environmental Affairs Agency and the YLE Foundation requires members of the foundation to give the necessary assistance to protectorates.

Hunting down rare animals and bird violates the CITES multilateral treaty that Egypt signed to protect endangered plants and animals.
