CAIRO – 15 October 2017: Italian Minister of Defense, Roberta Pinotti, received the Egyptian Ambassador to Italy, Hisham Badr on Sunday to discuss ways of promoting the bilateral relations between the two countries.

This came in the pursuit of the two countries to strengthen and enhance relations between them in many fields.

Egypt will not forget the Italian supportive role it played after the critical period, which Egypt witnessed during the June 30th revolution, stated Egyptian Ambassador.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed ways of promoting the relations in many fields including confronting Terrorism and extremism as well as illegal immigration.

They also discussed how to protect mutual economic, political, cultural and security interests stressing the diplomatic partnership between Rome and Cairo is essential to face regional challenges.

For her part, Pinotti pointed out that partnership is also decisive on the regional level, managing immigration flows, fighting terrorism, and even in the Libyan case.

Cairo is looking forward to enhancing political and economic ties with Rome, Badr added.

He assured that Egypt is committed to cooperate with Italy to unveil the truth behind the killing of Italian student Giulio Regeni, and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Badr also expressed Egypt's keenness on boosting cooperation in combating illegal immigration.
