CAIRO - 14 October 2017: Egypt has followed up with interest a new strategy announced by US President Donald Trump on Iran, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Saturday.

The strategy contained reasons for Egypt’s deep concern over Iran’s policy that leads to the instability of the region and affects the Arab national security as well as the security of the Gulf, the spokesman said.

"Egypt has always called for promoting the factors of confidence building in the Middle East and through urging the regional powers to adopt policies and stances that pose no threat to the stability and security of the region and to stop any negative interference in the affairs of the Arab countries," he said.

The spokesman reiterated Egypt’s stance demanding the necessity of freeing the Middle East from weapons of mass destruction, the respect of good neighborhood and non-interference in the affairs of the Arab countries.
