CAIRO– 14 October 2017: Minister of Defense and Military Production Sedqi Sobhi attended on Saturday rocket-firing drills, code-named "Heaven protectors 2".

The drills, conducted by units of the Air Defense Forces, come in line with the annual military exercises carried out by formations and units of the Armed Forces.

The drills coincide with Egypt's celebrations of the 44th anniversary of the October 6 War.

The defense minister conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who he said appreciates the efforts exerted by the Armed Forces to protect the homeland.

Sobhi also praised the high level shown by the units participating in the drills, while greeting the Air Defense Forces who exert much effort to protect Egypt's skies and airspace.

Meanwhile, Commander of the Air Defense Forces Lieutenant-General Ali Fahmy delivered a speech, during which he asserted the Armed Forces' keenness to have the most up-to-date weapons, rockets as well as surveillance and alarm systems.

He indicated that these efforts aim to help the Air Defense Forces safeguard Egypt's airspace and stand up to all air threats.
