CAIRO – 13 October 2017: Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority MohabMamishmet with a French delegate, to arrange a one-yearhistorical mobile exhibition, celebrating 150 years since the opening of the Suez Canal.

Mamish met with a French delegate from French-based Friends of deLesseps and the Arab World Institute in Paris, to plan for a mobile exhibition, head of the historical exhibition of the Suez Canal Mona Al Sayadsaid.

Preparation for the exhibition will start next march, according to Sayad, to celebrate in 2019 150 years since the Suez Canalhas opened its doors to international navigation in November 1869.

Sayad said that the mobile exhibition willstart in Paris and will then move to Marseille, returning to Cairo to reach his last stop in Ismailia. “We are preparing models for the new Suez Canal projects, the industrial zone, and the ports around the canal,” Sayad added.

In August 2015, Egypt inaugurated a major expansion of the Suez Canal by adding a 35 kilometer waterway parallel to the original channel, aiming to increase traffic on the canal as well as raise Egypt’s international revenues.
