CAIRO – 12 October 2017: Minister of Defense and Military Production Sedki Sobhi met on Thursday with chairman of the European Union Military Committee Mikhail Kostarakos along with his accompanying delegation, currently on a visit to Egypt.

The meeting tackled several issues of mutual concern as well as the regional and international efforts in combating terrorism in light of the Middle East's developments and their impact on the region's security and stability.

The defense minister hailed as deep the partnership relations and military cooperation between Cairo and several EU countries, saying he is looking forward to further cooperation between the two sides in several fields.

Kostarakos also held talks with the Army Chief of Staff Mahmoud Hegazy on the latest regional and international developments and their effect on the region's security and stability.

The EU official lauded the strategic partnership between Egypt and the EU states, commending Cairo's efforts to counter terrorism and its contribution to resolving issues and problems on the regional and international arenas.
