CAIRO – 9 October 2017: Egypt condemned on Monday the terrorist attack by the Allied Democratic Forces that targeted the United Nations forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo, leaving one guard dead and 12 others injured on Monday, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement.

“Egypt and its citizens expressed sincere condolences and sorrow for the victims’ families,” Abu Zeid added, noting that Egypt stands behind the Democratic Republic of Congo and its people against terrorism.

“Unifying international efforts to combat the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism is a must,” the spokesperson said.
The statement also noted the important role played by the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUC) in achieving security and stability in the country.
