KHARTOUM- 8 October 2017:British Ambassador to Sudan Michel Aron said that he was happy with the permanent removal of US sanctions on Sudan.

In statements to Sudan News Agency (SUNA) he said he was looking forward to this decision since he came to Khartoum.

Ambassador Aron said the removal of American sanctions would pave way to comprehensive development in Sudan.
He said Britain is strongly backing Sudan to continue its positive participation with the international community to make Sudan more safe and prosperous.

Ambassador Aron continued "This historic decision will pave the way for more inclusive economic development for the people of Sudan. We strongly encourage the government of Sudan to continue its positive engagement with the international community."

The United states lifted the sanctions that were in place for two decades, last Friday, saying this was because Sudan has improved in the areas of human rights and fighting terrorism.

Saudi ambassador in Khartoum Ali bin Hassan Jaafar also praised the lifting of US sanctions on Sudan, saying the decision would increase investments opportunities in the country.
