CAIRO - 7 October 2017: Security officers in Luxor, southern Egypt, arrested on Friday an American tourist who lives in Luxor after he stabbed a citizen, who was later transferred to Luxor International Hospital for treatment.

Major Gen. Mostafa Salah al-Din, Luxor’s security director, got a notification from a police station in Luxor reporting that they had arrested a young American man named Erik. An argument between Erik and an Egyptian citizen evolved into a fight, in which the foreign tourist took off his clothes and stabbed the citizen in his left arm, fleeing the area immediately.

The American tourist is now arrested pending investigations.

In August 2017, an Italian tourist beat an Egyptian engineer to death at a hotel under construction in the Marsa Alam resort town on the Red Sea.
