CAIRO – 2 October 2017: The first inauguration session of the Parliament’s third consecutive round will be held on Monday, following President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s call on the House of Representatives to convene.

The current consecutive round, which will be presided over by the parliament’s speaker Ali Abdel-Aal, is expected to discuss legislations on a number of laws such as the freedom of information law, the local administration law, instantaneous divorce, consumer protection, and building violations.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail will deliver a keynote speech at the beginning of the parliament’s third consecutive round session, in which he will review the most important projects being implemented by the government as well as achievements made on the political and social levels.

According to Article 115: The President of the Republic invites the House of Representatives for its annual ordinary session before the first Thursday of October; failing to send such invitation, the House is required by the Constitution to meet on the stated day.

The ordinary session shall continue for at least nine months. The President of the Republic shall bring each session to a close with the approval of the House. This shall not be permissible except after the State's General Budget has been approved.

Earlier, the President of the Republic had issued a decree to end the second session of the first legislative act to start the vacation period on July 6, 2017.

The House of Representative resumes holding sessions in the first week of October to last for nine months, at least, after which it closes in June 2018.
