CAIRO- 2 October 2017: Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi received on Sunday a telephone call from the Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Aboul Gheit praised the Iraqi victories over Daesh terrorist gangs and the liberation of Iraqi territories, noting the great interest of the Arab League in the situation in Iraq and in the war to promote and preserve the unity of the country.

Abul-Gheit renewed the Arab League's rejection of the unconstitutional referendum in the Kurdistan region, and its adherence to the unity of Iraq.

Al-Abadi stated that: “We will not allow disagreements to affect our war against terrorist gangs, as our heroic forces are winning important victories in these days and liberating our territories."

He added that what we have undertaken with the Kurdistan region is constitutional and legal procedures for the federal authority in order to maintain the unity of Iraq, and we do not want to punish our citizens in the region.
