Ministry of Health warns Egyptians of “Relax” perfume

CAIRO – 1 October 2017: Egyptian Ministry of Health has issued a statement to all pharmacy inspections across the country to target and confiscate the perfume called “Relax” that can kill within three days, said Head of the Central Administration of Pharmacy Affairs at the Ministry of Health Dr. Rasha Ziadeh.

The fragrance was being distributed in some pharmacies and fragrance shops causing death within three days. Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade was notified that some countries have warned its citizens from using this perfume containing toxic materials.

Consequently, the Ministry of Supply sent a letter to all supply directorates across Egypt calling them to launch a campaign to search for and confiscate this product.

The letter asked for withdrawing the products from markets and sending samples to specialized analytical laboratories.

Responding to the call, intensive campaigns have been launched targeting all pharmacies and gift shops to find the product.


In addition to ensuring the safety of the Egyptians, social media users intensively spread a word of caution about the perfume.

Yet, the Ministry of Health has not found any deaths till now, said spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population Khalid Mujahid on Saturday.
