Libya's rival leaders to meet in Moscow -- Russian paper

MOSCOW- 29 September 2017: Moscow is preparing to host a meeting between Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al Sarraj and Libyan army commander Khalifa Haftar, Russian Izvestia newspaper reported on Friday.

Haftar confirmed the meeting, which means Moscow will continue mediation efforts that were launched by Abu Dhabi and Paris, a high level source close to the Russian diplomatic circles told Izvestia.

The source explained that Sarraj agreed to meet with Haftar, during the Libyan prime minister's meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.
