CAIRO – 27 September 2017: Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, Chairman of Kingdom Holding Company and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alwaleed Humanity Foundation and a member of the royal family, praised on Twitter the decree issued by King Salman, allowing Saudi women to drive cars, describing it as a historic decision that made Saudi Arabia finally join the 21st century.

Saudi Ambassador in Washington Prince Khalid bin Salman asserted Tuesday that the royal decree to grant the Saudi women the right to drive comes as part of the economic reform march.

Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh, head of Saudi Arabia's religious police told Al-Hurra that Sharia’a (Islamic Law) doesn’t ban women from driving. “King Salman’s decision was taken to achieve justice and give Saudi women the right to choose whether to drive or not.”
