CAIRO – 26 September 2017: The Egypt Support Coalition opened the candidacy door for the position of the coalition’s leader, and membership of the political office, from Saturday to Monday, as the elections will be held on October 1.

The coalition comprises 317 parliament members; of which 216 are independent, and 101 are affiliated with seven parties that are Homat El Watan, Misr Balady, Mostaqbal Watan, El Moatamar, El Shaab El Gomhoury, El Horeya, and Misr El Haditha. The coalition was founded in 2015 following the parliamentary elections.

The coalition’s current leader is businessman Mohamed El Seweidy, and he is running for a second term which would last for three more years.
