Egypt's Ambassador lauds military cooperation between Egypt, France

PARIS – 24 September 2017:Egyptian Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO Ihab Badawi has praised development of military cooperation and strategic partnership between Egypt and France over the past years.

In statements to MENA Sunday, Badawi said that the first GOWIND corvette's joining the Egyptian Navy is an enormous technological addition to the capabilities of the Navy to achieve maritime security and protect the Suez Canal, freedom of navigation and the territorial waters.

The Ambassador mentioned that 'Al Fateh' corvette is considered the fourth naval piece from France over the past three years after witnessing joining of frigate 'Tahya Misr' in 2015 and two Mistral-class helicopter carriers 'Gamal Abdel Nasser' and 'Anwar Al Sadat' in 2016.

He also lauded the unique relations between the Egyptian and French navies to exchange experience and enhance their capacity in the joint work in the sea, pointing out to intensive periodic exercises and joint war games between the two countries like "Ramses 2016" and "Cleopatra 2017".

Badawi lauded the ability of the Egyptian naval forces that they benefited from the modern French technology in a record time, stressing that the French side commended Egyptian armed forces' commitment and their ability to use in short times the most developed equipment.

He expected that Egyptian-French strategic relations will witness more coordination and cooperation between both sides at high levels to boost relations, exchange visions towards Middle East crises and challenges like terrorism, the peace process and ways of restoring stability in the Arab region
