NEW YORK - 23 September 2017: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Friday had talks with his Bangladesh counterpart Abul Hasan Mahmoud Ali in New York on bilateral ties and the Rohingya crisis.

Egypt's candidate for the UNESCO director-general post Moushira Khattab took part in the meeting.

The two ministers discussed bilateral relations and means of developing them in all fields, as well as a number of regional issues of common concern, topped by the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry expressed Egypt's appreciation for the distinguished and historical relations between the two countries, saying he is looking forward to developing them in all fields, particularly in the health, tourism and education, and beefing up the volume of trade exchange.

Shoukry also stressed the importance of setting a date for the first session of political consultations between the two countries at the earliest opportunity.
