CAIRO – 19 September 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Tuesday in the UN General Assembly’s (UNGA) 72nd session that some critical issues have been discussed, including the Palestinian issue, in addition to the global efforts made to achieve stability and combat terrorism.

A series of meetings took place between Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and American President Donald Trump, where the two discussed the strategic relation between the two countries, which Egypt is keen on strengthening.

On the sidelines of the session, President Sisi met with his Cypriot counterpart, Nicos Anastasiades, Shoukry said. The meeting between both leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways of boosting cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

This is the fourth time President Sisi participates in UNGA since his taking office in June 2014. In light of the increasing vulnerability of millions of people around the world as a result of conflict, terrorism, displacement and rapid change in the climate that leads to natural disasters, this year, the assembly is adopting the theme of “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet”.
