GENEVA, Sept 18 2017: Egypt denounced using violence against civilians in Syria who are being targeted by the armed groups, especially Daesh and Al Nusra Front.

In a statement by the Egyptian delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the delegation noted that violence has resulted in increasing the suffering of the Syrian people for years.

The delegation said that it shares its concern with the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria over the continuation of the siege, hindering the humanitarian aid and non-discrimination in targeting civilians in several districts by airstrikes.

The delegation also called on the international community to work hard to stop the aggressive actions in order to restore stability in Syria and end all forms of external support to the armed groups.

Egypt renewed its confirmation that the political path is the only solution to end the Syrian crisis as it fully supports the peaceful political settlement within the framework of Geneva's operation led by UN Special Envoy to Syria Stephane de Mistura.

The delegation warned of violating the Syrian sovereignty by diving it on ethnic bases which will result in serious consequences in the entire Middle East region.
