Hisham Ramez former Central Bank Governor
CAIRO – 17 September 2017: Nine terrorists were sentenced to death and two others were jailed for two years on charges of killing the bodyguard of the former Central Bank Governor Hisham Ramez in February 2013.
Giza Criminal Court issued its ruling on Sunday after listening to all the witnesses during the past hearing sessions and investigating all the evidence and details of the terrorist attack, according to an official statement.
The trial, which began in 2013, also focused on the defendants’ involvement in the stealing of the bodyguard’s car.
Held in the South Cairo Court in Sayeda Zeinab, the sentencing came after listening to the last statements made by the plaintiffs’ attorneys.
The Public Prosecution’s charges included murder, theft, bullying, in addition to shooting in a residential area and the unlicensed possession of firearms and ammunitions.
