CAIRO – 17 September 2017: The official website of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense published a video showing the advancement, courage and progress of Egyptian paratroopers in “Defenders of Friendship 2" military drills with Russia.

The training activities show both sides’ various weapons, as well as the landing of paratroopers after several consecutive jumps from helicopters. The events started on September 9 and will end on September 22.

The training comes within the framework of the joint exercise plan and military cooperation relations between the armed forces of both countries, in addition to the keenness of the two countries to upgrade their military capabilities to face global terrorism, and to protect and control potential terrorist targets.

Egyptian parachute units and the Russian air force were put through various challenged during the first days of the military drills. They also introduced participating soldiers to the technical and tactical characteristics of weapons, equipment, and the command-and-control mechanisms necessary to further consolidate a soldier’s field skills and tactics.

The last tactical training, "Defenders of Friendship 2016", was held in Egypt in October.

State-owned Russian news agency TASS reported early September that Russia will train Egyptian pilots to fly Mistral helicopters.
