CAIRO – 16 September 2017: The Egyptian community in the U.S. is ready to welcome President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi during his upcoming visit to New York on Sunday to participate in the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sisi will deliver a speech before the U.N. next Wednesday. He also will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as hold a number of important meetings with the heads of a number of countries and international dignitaries during the U.N. session.

Iman Wahman, one of the coordinators for the president's celebrations, said that Egyptians were contacted across the U.S., in Washington, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and coordinated to gather and welcome the president to his New York residence on Sunday.

"A number of churches and Islamic centers have prepared buses to transport the community to New York, and preparations have been underway for a long time to welcome Sisi upon his arrival in New York with a large number of flags, pictures and the slogan ‘Long Live Egypt’," said one of the coordinators.

"We will also be celebrating the President's speech to the United Nations on Wednesday, announcing our support for the problems and difficulties facing him. Adding that the world is waiting with great interest for the participation of Sisi, who represents the most important Arab country," said Jacqueline Saad, vice president of the Coptic Church in New York.
