CAIRO – 14 September 2017: New Italian Ambassador to Egypt Giampaolo Cantini was led to the Italian Embassy to assume his post and take over his duties on Thursday.

Cantini was led then to the Foreign Ministry headquarter Thursday afternoon to meet with the Assistant Foreign Minister for Protocol Affairs Ambassador, Ayman Mosharafa, to present his credentials.

The meeting will be followed by a meeting with Egyptian ambassador to Italy, Hisham Badr, who is due to leave Cairo tomorrow to take over his duties in Rome.

The ambassador will hold a meeting with the embassy staff to identify them and the nature of the files, before receiving his work officially after a year of withdrawal.

The new Italian Ambassador to Egypt Giampaolo Cantini was received by officials in Cairo International Airport on Wednesday evening to assume his post after presenting his credentials to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

Last month Italy decided to send Ambassador Giampaolo Cantini to Cairo, citing progress and cooperation in investigation of the 2016 murder of the Italian post-graduate student in Egypt.
