TUNIS - 12 September 2017: The Egyptian Embassy in Tunis is coordinating with the Tunisian authorities to resolve the problem of the 16 Egyptian fishermen whose boat was seized by Tunisian coast guards in late August, Egyptian Ambassador to Tunisia Nabil Habashy said.

The fishermen were detained by Tunisian authorities for fishing near Jarjis Port in southern Tunisia, Habashy told MENA on Tuesday.

The diplomat said the Egyptian embassy is contacting the Tunisian authorities to release 12 fishermen within the coming period, noting that the other four members of the boat's crew would remain in Tunisia until all legal procedures are finalized.

On that score, the ambassador urged Egyptian fishermen to be careful while being on fishing trips so as not to enter Tunisia's territorial waters without a permit.
