Sisi, Modi discuss cooperation development on BRICS sideline

CAIRO – 5 September 2017: Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi discussed with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi means of developing bilateral cooperation in different domains, especially at the levels of economy, investment and development, a presidential statement said on Tuesday.

On the sideline of the BRICS bloc summit in China's Xiamen, the bilateral cooperation between the two countries came in light of the distinguished Indian experiment in achieving comprehensive development, increasing commercial exchange that reached $4 billion annually.

The two leaders tackled ways of boosting coordination between Indian companies and the national projects being currently implemented in Egypt, as well.

Discussion also extended to a number of regional and international issues sharing the same concerns to both countries.

Earlier on Monday, Sisi called on the BRICS bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) to bring more investments in Egypt as his country takes measures to provide a “good atmosphere” for foreign investments.

The forum, which is held on the sideline of the 9th annual BRICS summit which kicked off Sunday in China's port city Xiamen, was attended by hundreds of businessmen.

Sisi added that Egypt is working on measures to implement its development, adding that his country has successfully dealt with the economic crisis to bring security and stability despite the cost of war against terrorism.
