CAIRO – 1 September 2017: Secretary of House of Representatives’ Defense and National Security committee Yehia al-Kedwany said Friday that Egypt is being targeted by conspiracies orchestrated by Qatar, which pays millions of dollars to defame Egypt on all international levels.

The member of parliament (MP) referred to the statements of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s advisor Sebastian Gorka to prove his allegations.

Gorka, who resigned on August 25 as Trump’s advisor, claimed that the White House is dominated by pro-Muslim Brotherhood members. Kedwany used Gorka’s statements to attack Qatar, saying that Doha funds campaigns that aim at defaming the Egyptian state, alongside terrorist organizations, cooperating with Muslim Brotherhood’s agents at the White House.

“Qatar and its allies make big efforts to impede the measures of Trump’s administration to counter terrorism,” Kedwany said.

Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain severed diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5, announcing economic sanctions against the country over accusations of supporting terrorism and interfering in the domestic issues of Arab countries.
