NEW YORK - 1 September 2017: About 400 people were killed during this week in the fight between Rohingya Muslim minority and security forces northwestern Myanmar, according to the United Nations.

The BBC reported that the number of Rohingya Muslims fleeing to Bangladesh, due to the ongoing killings, reached about 40,000 .

They face persecution in the predominantly Buddhist country.

Many in Rakhine state and across Myanmar are considered illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
