CAIRO – 31 August 2017: Minister of Defense General Sedki Sobhi visited injured army officers and soldiers on Wednesday at the military hospitals and wished them and their families a prosperous and healthy Eid Al-Adha.

On behalf of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, Sobhi expressed appreciation for the combatants who left their mark on the military’s history, fighting terrorism and losing limbs as a result.

Egyptians prove day after day that they truly belong to a patriotic army, responsible for defending the country, showing acts of heroism and sacrifice, Sobhi said.

The casualties expressed their will to die for their country. Confronting terrorism and securing Egypt’s borders are evidence of the military’s persistence in protecting the whole country, they said.

On July 7, a terror attack launched on an Egyptian Armed Forces checkpoint in Rafah, North Sinai left 26 Egyptian soldiers dead and many more injured.

On July 21, military spokesman Tamer Rifae announced the killing of thirty takfiris and the arrest of five by the Egyptian Armed Forces in North Sinai. Similarly, according to a statement on July 25, forty takfiris were announced dead.
