CAIRO – 29 August 2017: Qatari-led Al Jazeera TV Network stepped up for distortion campaign against the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which specifically targets the Qatari people to give quite a well-fabricated justification for Qatari’s attempts to withdraw from the GCC, Minister of Information Ali bin Mohammed al-Rumaihi said in press statements on Tuesday.

Al-Rumaihi further explained that the current Qatari media strategy is basically meant to mobilize the Qatari street against the GCC by spreading fake claims based on historical and political fallacies and unsubstantiated allegations.

The Minister highlighted that Al Jazeera has never stood up for the Gulf unity nor the Gulf integration, adding that Al Jazeera has been broadcasting news programs and reports that used to cast doubts on the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council and its raison d’être.

Bahrain is amongst the four Arab countries that cut off ties with Qatar over terrorism support accusations and choosing sides with Iran.

Al-Rumaihi confirmed the involvement of the Iranian media in promoting the gains that Qatar might achieve by withdrawing from the Council; it called for the formation of an Iranian-Qatari alliance, according to the editor-in-chief of the Iranian news agency.

Furthermore, the Bahraini Minister emphasized the keenness of the GCC leaders on strengthening the unity and cohesion of the Islamic cooperation within the principles upon which it was basically founded, top of which is ensuring security and stability, and the rejection of interference in the internal affairs, as well as distancing people from the political sphere.
