CAIRO – 25 August 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri met with the British Minister of Middle East Affairs Alistair Burt on Thursday. The pair spoke about several issues of mutual interest including countering terrorism and Qatari and Libyan disputes.

Alistair said during the meeting that his country started to take real actions based on the recommendations of Muslim Brotherhood activities report issued in 2015. Furthermore, both ministers discussed their government’s vision and strategy of countering terrorism, according to an official statement by the foreign minister’s spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zaid.

The latest escalations of the Qatari dispute, along with the Libyan and Syrian political situations were also discussed in the meeting.

Marking his first official visit to Cairo since taking office, Burt arrived in Egypt on Wednesday for two-day visit. The minster’s agenda included several meetings with a number of Egyptian officials and ministers.
