CAIRO - 25 August 2017: President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi on Thursday directed the government to prepare a report on all efforts exerted with regard to combating terrorism and extremist thoughts, spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

This came at a meeting that was attended by the prime minister and ministers of defense, Awqaf, youth and sports, social solidarity, foreign affairs, interior, communications, justice, education and higher education.

Sisi also urged reviewing previous studies conducted by the various ministries in order to send them to the National Terrorism-Combat Council to help the newly-formed body set a comprehensive national strategy to combat terrorism and extremism.

The meeting addressed the role of the state’s executive bodies in support of the national council, Youssef said, noting that the efforts include developing school curricula, clearing books from wrong and extremist concepts, training imams and spreading positive values in the society, Youssef said.

The meeting also covered current Arab and international terrorism-combat efforts, he concluded.
